I’ve always loved blackbirds, robins and little sparrows that scurry around my mom’s garden. I love blackbirds singing, I think it’s the best way to wake up in the morning. New Zealand has given me many things, including more appreciation for bird life. Ulva Island was a perfect place for me then! I’m by no means aContinue reading “Bird life”

Nau Mai Haere Mai ki Te Wharawhara
One of the things I really wanted to while staying on Stewart Island was visit a neighouring island called Ulva Island, a pest-free sanctuary where bird life is abundant due to the lack of rodents and other troublemakers. The day that I had planned to go washed away, literally, as it rained the whole time. Luckily,Continue reading “Nau Mai Haere Mai ki Te Wharawhara”
Wanaka
On my next travel to New Zealand (because there will definitely be a next time!), I want to see more of Wanaka. I’ve fallen in love with that general area of beautiful mountains and lakes. It’s so stunning, so inspirational. I took this particular photo on my first time over. We were camping at the DOC-campsiteContinue reading “Wanaka”

Trekking from hut to hut through amazing nature, enjoying the most amazing scenery along the Routeburn Track was quite invigorating. Forget the aching, forget the sweating, this is when I felt alive…and I’d do it all over again.

It’s such a beautiful area and I highly recommend it to anyone going to New Zealand! I took this photo on my second trip. I booked a sailing trip on a catamaran. The weatherContinue reading “Golden sand beaches”
Lake McKenzie

I’d been tramping for a few hours, passed the highest point of the trek and seen the most amazing views that made me go ‘wow, I am here to see it!’ It was time to head down to Lake McKenzie Hut, where I would stay the secondContinue reading “Lake McKenzie”
Off the beaten campsite
One of the advantages of travelling around New Zealand with your own campervan is the freedom. In principle, you can camp almost anywhere in New Zealand. However, sady enough many travellers have shown an inability to clean up after themselves, and be respectful towards nature and people. This has resulted in residents not wanting the campervansContinue reading “Off the beaten campsite”
