Bird life

I’ve always loved blackbirds, robins and little sparrows that scurry around my mom’s garden. I love blackbirds singing, I think it’s the best way to wake up in the morning. New Zealand has given me many things, including more appreciation for bird life. Ulva Island was a perfect place for me then! I’m by no means a birdwatcher, but I enjoy seeing birds that are so different from what I know. I love it. During our visit to Ulva Island, we saw quite a few birds! We saw robins, a yellowhead, a fantail (sadly no photo), wood pigeons, a weka family, black oystercatchers, kakariki, a kaka bird and a South Island saddleback (sadly no photo). It was awesome!

  1. I love the birdlife here in NZ! It is just so diverse, the songs/calls are amazing. I have been trying to get a good photo of the Silvereyes that are always fluttering around in my garden, very pretty! I did make good friends with a Weka on the North Island, he kept trying to steal everything in our camp 🙂

    1. It is! Birdlife in New Zealand is amazing! Silvereyes are so cute, but I don’t think I’ve seen one in real life. Weka seem like cheeky little fellows! 🙂
