Enrichment

The Routeburn Track, one of my proud accomplishments. I’ll gladly experience this amazing trek again if it meant immersing myself in this incredible landscape again as well. On this photo, I had long passed the highest point of the trek (Harris Saddle) and was making my way down to Lake MacKenzie Hut, which you canContinue reading “Enrichment”

The road less travelled

Trekking from hut to hut through amazing nature, enjoying the most amazing scenery along the Routeburn Track was quite invigorating. Forget the aching, forget the sweating, this is when I felt alive…and I’d do it all over again.

Climb every mountain

Trekking through the lush green forests and getting higher and higher up the mountain. Every once in a while I had to stop and take a picture to capture how much I had hiked to get there. The Routeburn Track was amazing to do and seeing these pictures again fills me with that fuzzy warm feeling of pride and nostalgia.Continue reading “Climb every mountain”

Promise of a beautiful day

Lake McKenzie

January 2012, day two of the Routeburn Track. I’d been tramping for a few hours, passed the highest point of the trek and seen the most amazing views that made me go ‘wow, I am here to see it!’ It was time to head down to Lake McKenzie Hut, where I would stay the secondContinue reading “Lake McKenzie”

Everybody that has ever visited New Zealand will probably agree with me that it’s an amazing country. The nature, the space, the people…it’s a special piece of stunning beauty. To those that have never visited the ‘land of the long white cloud’: you are missing out! 😉 I understand that it’s not possible for everyoneContinue reading “Top 10 things to see and do in New Zealand”

A beautiful world

One of the things on my bucket list was doing a multiple day trek with a full pack. January 2012, I could tick that off my list: I hiked the Routeburn Track, a 32km trek through Mt. Aspiring N.P. and Fiordland N.P., New Zealand! Most people do the tramp (Kiwi word for a trek) inContinue reading “A beautiful world”
