A big sandbox

The Dutch coast, a big sandbox bathing in sunlight. It’s such a nice area to soak up some salty air and feel the wind in your face. I love how on these photos the sand contrasts with the blue skies and darker cloudy haze in the distance. I believe I took these pictures a few yearsContinueContinue reading “A big sandbox”

Near Bow Falls, Banff

Although I’ve seen very little of Canada (so far), what I did see was beautiful! I definetly want to see heaps more! 🙂 Banff N.P. in Alberta is a beautiful area and I highly recommend a visit. When I went to Banff, the town, I did some light hiking along the Bow river. As I walkedContinueContinue reading “Near Bow Falls, Banff”

Golden sand beaches

Abel Tasman N.P. is one of my favourite areas in New Zealand. Beautiful blue water, lush forests and golden beaches. It’s such a beautiful area and I highly recommend it to anyone going to New Zealand! I took this photo on my second trip. I booked a sailing trip on a catamaran. The weatherContinueContinue reading “Golden sand beaches”

True blue

Earlier this year, I posted a picture of Mt. Cook (Aoraki) and the crazy blue Lake Pukaki on a day with a gorgeous clear blue sky. I also made a short video of the lake and the highest mountain in New Zealand that day. I still find it stunning to see water that blue. Amazing! Mt.ContinueContinue reading “True blue”

Island ingredients: wind, salty air, clouds and sun

Last weekend I spent a few days on the beautiful island of Vlieland. I’d never been to one of the Dutch islands before, so I was excited to go! I went over because a friend and her husband were going to run half a marathon (crazy sporty people! 🙂 ) and I would cheer them on!ContinueContinue reading “Island ingredients: wind, salty air, clouds and sun”

One glacier please, sunny not stirred

This is Franz Josef glacier on the South Island of New Zealand. This was the first time that I ever saw a glacier and I thought it was very impressive! The weather was amazing that day, so the colours and shadows of the ice made this a really spectacular view for me. I hiked onContinueContinue reading “One glacier please, sunny not stirred”

Lake McKenzie

January 2012, day two of the Routeburn Track. I’d been tramping for a few hours, passed the highest point of the trek and seen the most amazing views that made me go ‘wow, I am here to see it!’ It was time to head down to Lake McKenzie Hut, where I would stay the secondContinueContinue reading “Lake McKenzie”

North Sea

The beach is a lovely place to let the wind clear your head. I love walking along the beach when it’s sunny and windy. I love the sound of waves and how the waves crash onto the beach. I don’t get out to the beach nearly enough. Maybe I should change that! There’s an ideaContinueContinue reading “North Sea”
