Mid December 2017 it was finally time for mom and I to travel to New Zealand! For mom it was the first time ever flying this far. For me, it was my fourth time to New Zealand and my fifth time flying ‘Down Under’. To be honest, it felt rather unreal to be undertaking thisContinueContinue reading “Across the world”

May it guide you on your journey
On my latest travels to New Zealand last December/January, mom and I went to Te Wairoa Buried Village, near Rotorua. In 1886 Mount Tarawera erupted, destroying the Pink and White Terraces and burying the village of Te Wairoa. Today, it’s the most visited archaeological site in New Zealand. I’ve always been fascinated by the storyContinueContinue reading “May it guide you on your journey”
In the end
When I reached Sälka, I checked in at the checkpoint and also said I was going to quit the trail. A nurse came and looked at my knee. She said ‘but you’re knee is strong!’. While that may have been the case (and proof that my physio paid off), the muscles running down from myContinueContinue reading “In the end”
See the line where the sky meets the sea, it calls me
I’ve always loved water. When I was a kid, I’d spend most summer days swimming in the nearby lake or paddling in the creek in my inflatable rowboat. I would spend hours on end enjoying the water, whether I was on it or in it. I loved it. I enjoyed these adventurous water voyages, untilContinueContinue reading “See the line where the sky meets the sea, it calls me”
Big rocks, small rocks, some as big as your head
This is what the trail during the Fjällräven Classic typically looked like. The trail is part of the Kungsleden, well established and regularly hiked, but also old and worn out thus exposing the rocks underneath. As pretty as it may look, it’s actually quite difficult to hike, because you constantly have to consciously place your feet.ContinueContinue reading “Big rocks, small rocks, some as big as your head”
Acceptance
Day three started out really nicely. The view from my tent wasn’t half bad. 🙂 It was chilly but the sun was out, and I was excited to continue hiking. I can’t even remember how early I woke up, but I remember starting to hike around 8.30-9 am. I knew this stretch of the trailContinueContinue reading “Acceptance”
Take me away
I’d rather be… at Hopewell, New Zealand, one of my absolute favourite places on this planet ❤
Arriving at Singi
It’s about 15 km between Kebnekaise and Singi and it took me a good 7 hours orso to get to the second checkpoint. Once checked in at Singi checkpoint, I got my snack of souvas and mashed potatoes. Nomm! I found myself a quiet spot to pitch my tent. It was windy when I setContinueContinue reading “Arriving at Singi”
