Clouds

As you may know, I love cloudy skies, so I just had to take a photo of this fascinating cloudy sky over a glacial lake. I can’t remember exactly where this was, but I think somewhere in Mackenzie country. The colours of this landscape are so different from what I’m used to so I reallyContinueContinue reading “Clouds”

Pink paintbrush

This photo was taken from the window of my hostel room when I stayed at Elm Lodge in Dunedin. Looks pretty amazing, right? I love cloudy skies like this one. It’s almost like someone used a pink paintbrush and added some colour. There’s even a pinkish glow over all the houses. I didn’t use anyContinueContinue reading “Pink paintbrush”

Arthurs Pass

Arthurs Pass is a tiny town somewhere in the middle of the South Island of New Zealand. Wikipedia teaches me there are about 54 residents (wow), not counting the backpackers that visit this interesting place. It didn’t have that ‘end of the world feeling’ that I was expecting, but maybe that was the huge trucks thatContinueContinue reading “Arthurs Pass”

Close-up

Hopewell is located in the beautiful Marlborough Sounds. The property itself is beautiful and filled with trees, plants and flowers. Mike and Lynley put a lot of effort into keeping it beautiful and it shows. What a treat to have stayed here, if only for a brief time. I’ll definetly visit again! 🙂 Here’s aContinueContinue reading “Close-up”

Beached az, bro

A typical Down Under beach scene if you ask me. 🙂 There’s a tower to keep an eye the people. And while you can’t see it on this photo, there were also the red and yellow flags to mark the area where it was safe to swim. It was quite calm in Mt. Maunganui thatContinueContinue reading “Beached az, bro”

The Bucket List

A bucket list is a list of things someone wants to do before they die a.k.a. before they ‘kick the bucket’. Life can pass by so quickly and before we know it, we’re old and full of regrets. It’s so easy to get swallowed by the treadmill of life where you work, eat, sleep, pay bills andContinueContinue reading “The Bucket List”

Petrified forest

One of the main reasons to visit Curio Bay in the Catlins, New Zealand is the petrified forest. It’s pretty amazing when you realise there used to be a huge forest and you can still see the petrified remains, wood structure and all, when you walk around. This is also the area where Yellow-eyed penguins comeContinueContinue reading “Petrified forest”

Yellow-eyed penguin

On an organised trip to the Otago Peninsula, near Dunedin, we went to look at Yellow-eyed penguins coming to shore early in the evening. Yellow-eyed penguins (Maori name ‘Hoiho’) are a rare and endangered species of penguins native to New Zealand. I think they are absolutely amazing and unlike any other penguins I’d seen before.ContinueContinue reading “Yellow-eyed penguin”
