Vardiani

Earlier today I arrived back home from a short but lovely trip to Kefalonia, Greece. I went there because one of my best friends got married on the island ❤ And because I was there, I thought I’d enjoy a bit more of the island as well! I took these photos last Thursday, when IContinueContinue reading “Vardiani”

Matukituki River

The gorgeous Matukituki River is a braided river in Mt. Aspiring N.P. on the South Island of New Zealand. One day last January, I did a jet boating tour in the morning and a 4WD tour in the afternoon (during which I took this photo). The area is stunning!! It was also one of my favouriteContinueContinue reading “Matukituki River”

Tamaki Maori Village

Tamaki Maori Village is the best Maori cultural encounter I’ve experienced. The reason I loved it so much is because it felt like we were invited to a family gathering. We went to the village in various buses. We were on the bus called Huia (a native bird now extinct). We learnt how two brothersContinueContinue reading “Tamaki Maori Village”

Hey you, with the wind swept hair!

Here’s my shot for Cee’s Fun Photo Challenge ‘Outdoor ways to move up and down’. Sky diving was one of my ‘Bucket List Items’ and I was so excited when I finally got to do it! This was 2003 when I had my working holiday (mostly holiday, lol) in Australia and I did a tandemContinueContinue reading “Hey you, with the wind swept hair!”

Wouldn’t have wanted to miss it

I’d say it’s highly unlikely that I’ll attempt to hike the Fjällräven Classic again. I tried it twice and failed both times at the same spot: Sälka (see photo). This doesn’t mean I’m discouraged to go outdoors and hike! I still plan to do multiple day hikes, but maybe in less rough terrain (at least forContinueContinue reading “Wouldn’t have wanted to miss it”

In the end

When I reached Sälka, I checked in at the checkpoint and also said I was going to quit the trail. A nurse came and looked at my knee. She said ‘but you’re knee is strong!’. While that may have been the case (and proof that my physio paid off), the muscles running down from myContinueContinue reading “In the end”

Big rocks, small rocks, some as big as your head

This is what the trail during the Fjällräven Classic typically looked like. The trail is part of the Kungsleden, well established and regularly hiked, but also old and worn out thus exposing the rocks underneath. As pretty as it may look, it’s actually quite difficult to hike, because you constantly have to consciously place your feet.ContinueContinue reading “Big rocks, small rocks, some as big as your head”
