Recently, I went on a walk and saw various crocuses blooming. Normally they don’t start blooming until early Spring. The mild weather is obviously confusing nature! Lake Tekapo is known for its bright turquoise waters. Seeing it in a muted state, pretty much like a ‘regular lake’ was something different. I like seeing a different face of this place. Shades of grey
This milky grey lake is glacially fed by the Hooker glacier, which you can see in the background of this photo. I love how muted and almost monochrome the colours are. The many hues of Lake Pukaki
Lake Pukaki is a lake with ever changing colours. I’ve seen it in a really bright milky blue, an almost neon turquoise, and now in a deep medium blue with dark spots where clouds cast their shadows. This is one of those lakes that will look different every time you see it. I love it!
Trail marker
Whoever’s gone out hiking will have seen cairns: stacks of stones to mark a trail. I love the way they look and the function they have. People seem to also make cairns for fun.
