This milky grey lake is glacially fed by the Hooker glacier, which you can see in the background of this photo. I love how muted and almost monochrome the colours are. No bright blue lake edged by multicoloured flowers. Just grey and earthy tones, and a stunning view to match. It’s the reward you get after a two-hour hike through lush alpine vegetation and across a few swing bridges. An absolute highlight of my latest travels through New Zealand.

I haven’t heard of this lake or glacier. I’ll be looking them up before we go to NZ again. Lovely photo.

I highly recommend going there! The Mt. Cook region is absolutely stunning. I’d go back in a heartbeat!
