One month ago, I went on an amazing holiday! I travelled north, farther north than I’d ever been before. Early last summer, I had booked a Northern Lights tour to Sommarøy -near Tromsø, Norway- and Longyearbyen, Spitsbergen (or: Svalbard). I had booked this trip even before I went to Iceland at the end of lastContinue reading “Arctic adventures commence!”

A day in Stockholm
It was time to -sort of- say goodbye to my friend and her husband. They needed to go back to work and I was going to visit another friend. But first, I had a day and a night in Stockholm. I arrived early in the morning. Luckily, I could already check into my hotel room,Continue reading “A day in Stockholm”
Grönsöö Slott
The last activity my friend, her husband and I did before I had to leave again was a visit to beautiful Grönsöö Slott, a Swedish cultural heritage site in the Enköping area. The manor was built in 1611! We visited the gardens, which are kept beautifully. Also, the location by the water is simply stunning.Continue reading “Grönsöö Slott”
Stora Rickebyhällen
On our way back from Birka, we stopped by an archaeological site called Stora Rickebyhällen. In the stone, various figures and shapes were carved. Amazing to see how they’re still visible after so many years. Granted, all the engravings are coloured in in recent times, but that doesn’t diminish its value one bit. I findContinue reading “Stora Rickebyhällen”
Birka
After my Vasaloppsleden adventure, I took a few trains down south to visit my friend and her husband. It had been a few years since I visited them in Sweden, so it was time! Since my visit, they moved, so I need to go over again at some point to marvel at their beautiful newContinue reading “Birka”
Vasaloppsleden day 5 – Eldrisstugan to Mora (9 km)
Tuesday July 16th 2019 Last day! And a short day into Mora too, with only 9 km left on the Vasaloppsleden. It was raining in the morning and I was dreading it. I left around 10 am and realised the rain wasn’t bad at all! It wasn’t more like a drizzle, so nothing I couldn’tContinue reading “Vasaloppsleden day 5 – Eldrisstugan to Mora (9 km)”
Vasaloppsleden day 4 – Axisstugan to Eldrisstugan (26 km)
Monday July 15th 2019 It rained a lot that night. I was dreading having to hike in rain and mud the next day, but drove off to dream land in the end. I didn’t set an alarm for the morning, because it turns out I didn’t need it. I had plenty of time, so noContinue reading “Vasaloppsleden day 4 – Axisstugan to Eldrisstugan (26 km)”
Vasaloppsleden day 3 – Tennäng to Axisstugan (27 km)
Sunday July 14th 2019 Just like the day before, I set my alarm to 7.30 am, but I was already up by 6.45 am. After breakfast, I packed up and started hiking at 8 am. It was nice out and my confidence was growing. So far, I hadn’t had any knee problems! Sure, I wasContinue reading “Vasaloppsleden day 3 – Tennäng to Axisstugan (27 km)”
