If there is one thing the South Island of New Zealand is good at, it’s ruggedness. I took this photo when I did a LOTR-tour through the Queenstown/Arrowtown area on my first time over. We were touring around with a Landrover so we could get to all those amazing spots the general public can’t getContinueContinue reading “Ruggedness”

Wanaka
On my next travel to New Zealand (because there will definitely be a next time!), I want to see more of Wanaka. I’ve fallen in love with that general area of beautiful mountains and lakes. It’s so stunning, so inspirational. I took this particular photo on my first time over. We were camping at the DOC-campsiteContinueContinue reading “Wanaka”
Local residents
During my first time in New Zealand, I did an ecotour to the Otago Peninsula, close to Dunedin, to see Yellow-Eyed Penguins. The scenery was absolutely stunning, and the late afternoon light so inspirational! On our way to the beach where the penguins come to shore, we saw these local residents, enjoying the space and a nibble.
Cheeky ‘monkey’
Woop, I am back home! I’d almost say ‘unfortunately’ because New Zealand fits me like a glove and I’ve had such an amazing time. I miss it and am truly grateful for my time and experiences there. But it was good to see familiar faces and surroundings as well. It was a good run andContinueContinue reading “Cheeky ‘monkey’”
Golden Bay and Nelson
After Hopewell, I made my way to Golden Bay. The road from Nelson to Takaka is…quite interesting to say the least. I talked to someone who counted all the bends and he came to about 300! It’s a very windy road and I was very groggy! But I survived and lived to tell. I firstContinueContinue reading “Golden Bay and Nelson”
Going south
Monday morning, February 9th I made my way across the street to the Bluebridge ferry terminal at way too early o’ clock. The ferry ride was alright though. The day started with a cold and overcast morning, only to turn into a beautiful sunny day. So amazing! The crossover is a beautiful trip and almostContinueContinue reading “Going south”
Kapiti Coast and Wellington
The perks of having international friends is that you have the chance to get invited to their home turf. And so I did and so I enjoyed it very much! We were supposed to go to Kapiti Island, a bird sanctuary off coast, but the wind was too strong and the waters too rough, andContinueContinue reading “Kapiti Coast and Wellington”
Cape Reinga
I’d never been to Cape Reinga so I really wanted to go there this trip. I booked a bus tour and on the road we went! It was really relaxed, with all sorts of stops along the way. We made a short visit to a kauri forest and had lunch on the beach. After aContinueContinue reading “Cape Reinga”
