After visiting the Pena Palace, we had some time to explore the small town of Sintra. The narrow streets were filled with people, merchandise, decoration and colour. Such a mish-mash of pretty much everything, which all added to the charm of things. Not that much else to say about this place: we walked some, weContinueContinue reading “The narrow streets of Sintra”

Views from the Afsluitdijk
Last Saturday, we went to Assen to go to the Maya Exhibit at the Drents Museum. This is one of my absolute favourite musea in the country, due to its amazing archaeology collection including the Pesse canoe (oldest boat in the world) and the Yde Girl (Iron Age bog body of a 16-year-old girl). I highly recommendContinueContinue reading “Views from the Afsluitdijk”
Zig zag
The composition of this photo is all about the zig zags! I love the layers, the shapes, the colours, the contrast of the yellow with the blue yet cloudy sky. Such a gorgeous and inspirational place!
Pretty in pink
Just some pretty pink flowers on the property of Onuku Farm Hostel in Akaroa on the South Island of New Zealand (just a few hours from Christchurch). I stayed there during my first travels around New Zealand in 2005. It was a really nice place to stay at and I ended up twice as longContinueContinue reading “Pretty in pink”
Lake Manapouri
During my first travels around New Zealand in 2005, I had booked a tour to go to Doubtful Sound and in order to get there, we crossed Lake Manapouri on a small boat. Lake Manapouri is situated in Fiordland National Park and the wider region of Te Wahipounamu South West New Zealand World Heritage Area. The weather wasContinueContinue reading “Lake Manapouri”
Verde
Portugal’s nature is much greener than I’d expected. Beautiful, lush greens and trees make for very pretty sights. The big boulders in between give me the feeling of a really old landscape and it simply drew my attention.
Many happy returns
The beautiful pancake rocks in Punakaiki, on the west coast of New Zealand. Despite having been there twice now (this photo was taken on the first time), I think it’s still a remarkable sight, that I’d happily witness again! This is one of my favourite photos. I love the composition, the lighting (I’m a nutContinueContinue reading “Many happy returns”
The edge of Mordor
While I still have plenty of photos and stories to share from my trip to Portugal, I felt like posting some photos of good ‘ol New Zealand. 😉 I took these two photos on my first travels around beautiful Aotearoa. Without needing to hunt down and visit every Lord of the Rings location, I thoughtContinueContinue reading “The edge of Mordor”
