The edge of Mordor

While I still have plenty of photos and stories to share from my trip to Portugal, I felt like posting some photos of good ‘ol New Zealand. 😉

I took these two photos on my first travels around beautiful Aotearoa. Without needing to hunt down and visit every Lord of the Rings location, I thought it was cool to see at least *something*. As some of you may know, the Remarkables mountain range in Queenstown, featured as the edge of Mordor. During the half-day organised trip, we went up the Remarkables with our 4WD Landrover. The view from our spot was simply stunning! Layers of mountains, plenty of fields, Queenstown airport and the Shotover river. I love it!

  1. Oh Wow! That is a view and a half! It must have been such a tough job being the location scouts for LOTR! 😀 Absolutely beautiful – and thank you for sharing it with us armchair travellers 🙂

    1. Haha, yes indeed…those poor scouts! It’s stunning up there. Despite the touristic nature of the area, it is one of my favourites. So beautiful! 🙂

    1. Absolutely! I didn’t properly visit Arrowtown. On the tour we drove through it to get to a river that served as another LOTR location. Definitely on my list, as it seems like a lovely place!
