This is just so kiwi: small town by the water, beautiful views, someone on a boat, lush vegetation with ferns, pohutukawa and cabbage trees, and skies dotted about with clouds. What more could a person ask for?

Stick figure
There’s something about taking a photo of wide open space with a big object in the foreground. I love how it adds depth, some sort of frame and balance to this shot.
Geological marvels
“The Moeraki Boulders are a group of large spherical “stones” on Koekohe Beach near Moeraki on New Zealand’s Otago coast. These boulders are actually concretions that have been exposed through shoreline erosion from coastal cliffs. Pop
I love how the blue petals of this flower just pop off the screen! I took this photo when I was at Hopewell last December. Guess this shot was one of those ‘happy accidents’ as Bob Ross would have said. I’m completely in love with how this photo turned out!

Most petals were still wrapped up in buds. Only a few were unfolding, helping the transformation into beautiful new flowers. AContinueContinue reading “Buds and a bee”

Our first destination after Auckland was Hahei. I’d never been to the Coromandel before, but heard great things about it and I wanted to save travelling the area for this trip with my mom. It wasn’t too long a drive from Auckland, maybe a few hours orso. We needed to get used to the carContinueContinue reading “You do the Hokey Pokey”
The calming sound of waves
Enjoying a walk on the beach in beautiful, relaxed Hahei. I could listen to the soothing sound of waves for ages. What a beautiful spot! What kind of sound do you find calming?
