Kristiansund

Another stunning summer’s day in Norway! This day, my friend and I decided to have a look around in Kristiansund (not to be confused with Kristiansand, in the south of Norway), a small city, with about 24.500 residents. We didn’t do a whole lot (not that there was heaps to do anyway, haha), just someContinueContinue reading “Kristiansund”

Atlanterhavsveien

My time with my Norwegian friend was coming to an end. Sadly, I have to add, because we had a great time! We concluded our day of hiking with an easy stroll at Svevestien, along the Atlanterhavsveien. The Atlantic Road runs along some stunning coastline! My friend drove up and over the bridge just soContinueContinue reading “Atlanterhavsveien”

Bremsneshola

The second to last hike my Norwegian friend and I did together last summer was to Bremsneshola, the largest cave in Norway, going 80 meters deep into the mountain. In the cave many finds have been made of the almost 10.000-year-old Fosna culture, a Late Palaeolithic/early Mesolithic hunter-gatherer culture with settlements along the coast ofContinueContinue reading “Bremsneshola”

Stavneset

My Norwegian adventure continues! My friend and I decided to do a couple of shorter hikes in one day, of which the hike to the Staveneset Lighthouse was the first one. We had absolutely perfect hiking conditions. It was sunny and warm, but not too warm and there was a nice breeze keeping us cool enough.ContinueContinue reading “Stavneset”

Kvalvik Fort

My Norwegian friend and I decided to do some sightseeing and visited Kvalvik Fort, close to Kristiansund. “Kvalvik Fort is one of Norway’s best preserved coastal fortifications from the Second World War. There was also a submarine station here during the war. The fort is still intact and many people spend time exploring the bunker,ContinueContinue reading “Kvalvik Fort”

Skuleberget

I count myself lucky to have friends in different countries. In fact, it’s just plain awesome! One of my friends used to live in Sweden, but has since then moved back to her native Åland and started her own business, which I think is so bad ass! Anyway, back in 2010 I visited her in Sweden. SheContinueContinue reading “Skuleberget”

Jugendstil and strawberries

Our next destination after Geiranger was Ålesund. We stayed at the Scandic Parken hotel in the city centre, where the view from our room was another stunning one! From our room we could look out over the water and over the Jugendstil buildings. The reason the city centre has this style of houses requires a littleContinueContinue reading “Jugendstil and strawberries”

Geiranger to Hellesylt

After a wonderful time in Geiranger, it was time to pack our things and go on with our road trip. We decided to take the ferry to Hellesylt, as it was on the way to our next destination of Ålesund. The ferry took about an hour, but I wouldn’t have minded if it had taken moreContinueContinue reading “Geiranger to Hellesylt”
