Sunny days in Vancouver surely exist! I was treated to some gorgeous days, on which I went out to enjoy the city and its surroundings. On my way to Stanley Park, these beautiful, peachy coloured flowers grabbed my attention. Life sure is great when you get to spend your day enjoying nature.

Stones in the water
Another one of my favourite photos from my two-day hike along the Vasaloppsleden trail. I especially love the contrast between the brown stones in the water and all those green surroundings. Sweden is such a beautiful country!
Hunneschans
In 2008, a friend and I visited a beautiful area in the eastern part of the Netherlands. It’s called the Hunneschans, which used to be a Medieval fortified structure by the Uddelermeer. These days, you can still see the earthen structure of the ring, as you can see on the bottom picture. It was aContinueContinue reading “Hunneschans”
Rise and shine!
In October/November 2009, I worked on an archaeological excavation. Getting to the digging site from home took a few hours and to beat the rush hour, we had to be on the highway by 6 am. Luckily, during the week, we could stay at a ‘digging house’ closer to the site, which saved a lotContinueContinue reading “Rise and shine!”
Camp with a view
In 2008, I travelled to Sweden for the first time. It was an outdoorsy holiday with things like bushcrafts, canoeing and hiking. We stayed in the beautiful province of Dalarna in a tiny place called Venjan. My absolute highlight of the week was a two-day, 36 km hike along the Vasaloppsleden trail. It was beautiful!ContinueContinue reading “Camp with a view”
Pastels
I love the colours that accompany the setting sun. In this photo, I particularly love the haziness and the almost pastel colours of the landscape before me, as I travel through the Dutch landscape.
Survey on the river Meuse
It was the summer of 2009, I was working hard on my thesis and about to graduate from uni. I was full of hopes and dreams of having a career in archaeology. ‘Via via’ I was able to join in on a survey on the river Meuse for a few days, because ‘you never know, you mightContinueContinue reading “Survey on the river Meuse”
Contrasts
I love how light works; it illuminates, casts shadows and creates contrast. That’s what I like about this shot: the contrast between the different elements, the sun hitting the branches of this bare tree and creating shadows in other places. Add to that the beautiful clear blue sky, and I’m happy! 😉
