It was the first time I was at the very northern tip of a country. I loved looking into the vastness of the waters at Cape Reinga. Such a beautiful place.

Te Rerenga Wairua
Cape Reinga is the place where the Tasman Sea and the Pacific Ocean meet. It’s a spiritual place for Maori, because it is here that the spirits of the dead enter the underworld and make the journey back to the homeland of Hawaiki. I thought it was a beautiful place, a place with a lot of meaningContinueContinue reading “Te Rerenga Wairua”
Aussie cowgirl
It’s cold and grey today, and I can’t help but reminisce about past travels and amazing adventures. In 2002, I travelled to Australia for the first time. I was a recent graduate, and I just needed to get away from regular life and escape to a world of exploration. I didn’t have anything planned, not even my first nightContinueContinue reading “Aussie cowgirl”
Snowy branches
While currently it doesn’t seem like it, I’m pretty sure we’ll be getting at least some snow this year. Maybe not as much as when I took these photos, but who knows. Five years may not seem like so long ago, but a lot can change in that time. I love the look of the snowy branches. It’sContinueContinue reading “Snowy branches”
Springtime in winter
Recently, I went on a walk and saw various crocuses blooming. Normally they don’t start blooming until early Spring. The mild weather is obviously confusing nature! The flowers reminded me of a walk to a local park a few years ago, when the crocuses bloomed as well (in season). I’d forgotten all about those photos! I recentlyContinueContinue reading “Springtime in winter”
Two years and counting!

When I started this blog on January 1st 2014, never ever could I have imagined I’d still be going strong two years in. Two years….two! 😀 I still love blogging andContinueContinue reading “Two years and counting!”
Dreaming of a white Christmas
Here is a photo I took a few years ago, when we had a cold Winter with lots and lots of snow (by Dutch standards). While I’m a bit of a wuss when it comes to freezing temperatures (in the Netherlands it always gets water cold), I do love a sunny, cold and crisp Winter’sContinueContinue reading “Dreaming of a white Christmas”
Muted
Lake Tekapo is known for its bright turquoise waters. Seeing it in a muted state, pretty much like a ‘regular lake’ was something different. I like seeing a different face of this place. The clouds, the muted colours make it nice and moody. I love how in the background you can see a bit ofContinueContinue reading “Muted”
