There’s something about taking a photo of wide open space with a big object in the foreground. I love how it adds depth, some sort of frame and balance to this shot.

Yes … adding an interesting foreground object is is a tried and true landscape technique to lead viewers into your scene. It works well here and adds to making this a more unique composition. I think the object should first be interesting and second be sharply focused to work well.
