First time I ever saw a glacier in real life, whether from up close or far away, was in New Zealand. This is the Franz Josef glacier on the rugged and beautiful west coast. Over time, the glacier has receded quite a bit, which isn’t really a good sign, but lucky for me there was still enough to see and enjoy when I visited. I only hiked to the terminus of the glacier. I did a glacier walk on ‘the other one’ (Fox glacier). I would love to go to the ‘neve’ of a glacier and do a heli hike or something like that. Ah, someday! 😉
Bit icy…

What a wonderful landscape! Yes, it is really not a good sign that glaciers are retreating, I agree. They must be fascinating to see in real life. I hope you do get to do your glacier hike 🙂

It was! There are indeed fascinating to watch. There is no such thing in the Netherlands so I was really impressed! I’ll get to do that helihike thing some day, just don’t know when 😉
