We don’t need to know the way home

Just because I love dunes so much, I’m sharing two more photos from the Cape Reinga area where we had the opportunity to go sandboarding (which I didn’t do, thanks to pneumonia). This was on the way to 90-mile beach. Such a pretty area!

Lush greens

What a great view from the Waitangi Treaty Grounds. I love the lush greens and New Zealand has plenty of those! Lines

After the sandboarding, our tourguide took the big bus onto the sand to drive us along 90-mile beach. It’s pretty cool riding on the beach (I experienced it once before on Fraser Island, Australia). I love seascapes, the vastness, the emptiness. In this shot, I particularly like the composition and the horizontal lines all over.

Another one bites the dust

Waitangi Day

Today is Waitangi Day, named after the place the Waitangi Treaty was signed between the Māori and the British Empire in 1840. The treaty made New Zealand a part of the British Empire, guaranteed Māori rights to their land and gave Māori the rights of British subjects.
