Hello 2019! Reflections on five years of blogging

Happy New Year, everyone! Hope you’ll have a great 2019. Go out there and make it happen 🙂

It was five years ago that I started this blog as a sort of New Year’s resolution to draw my travel life more into my daily life. I can’t believe it’s been five years! Five! I can honestly say that I love blogging as much as I did when I started. Or perhaps I like it even more now that I think I’ve sort of found my blogging feet. Maybe I just have a lot to say, hahaha! But all jokes aside, I genuinely love blogging, sharing my photos and connecting with fellow enthusiasts!

It’s been a ride though! In 2014 I was just starting up my blog, but I think I was off to a good start. I had about 100 blog posts, gained some followers and had a good time trying things out. From 2015 to 2017 my posting was more inconsistent and the numbers of blog posts declined. Life got in the way so to speak. I still loved blogging, I just didn’t have the peace of mind to be consistent about it. Especially when I started my current job in January 2017, I needed all my time and energy to get that going. No matter how much I love blogging, I’ll always prioritise what brings food on the table and pays the bills. Lucky for me, I really love my job! This last year, I could put more time and effort into my blog to keep the content coming and -hopefully- interesting. I noticed a huge difference for the better, which I’m super happy about!

You hear stories of people only going for the numbers of followers, whether it’s blogging, YouTube or Instagram. I’ve never been and will never be about that. Of course I smile like a total loon for having over 700 followers now! Wow, you guys…wow! ❤ If anything, I feel gratitude and I genuinely appreciate the interest in my little corner of the web. It also motivates me to keep going, to keep improving where I can and to stay true. Because I believe that if your intentions aren’t true, people will know that and walk away. I’m just having so much fun blogging and I hope it shines through! 😀

So what’s coming in 2019? Well, I have more travel stories and photos to share from my trip to Norway last summer. I also have more to share from my travels to New Zealand last year, so expect many NZ posts! I also -sort of- organised my photo archive on my computer and found some gems from past travels. I’d love to share those! And of course I’ll be travelling again this coming year. I’m still in the planning stages, but as it looks now, I’ll be going to Iceland and Sweden. I’d also love to post more tips & tricks, contemplations etc. and I’m keeping my eye out for photo challenges as well! I’m excited!

What kind of posts do you enjoy on my blog? What would you like to see more of? Do you have any other questions that I could maybe answer in a Q&A-type post? Any topic you’d like me to write about?

  1. I love your blog posts, l like them because they are easy to read and not overly long. I’ve come across blogs that are more like short stories and l just don’t have that amount of time to read it lol and when l do have that time I will be reading my latest book not a blog post.
    Keep posting 😁 love them.

  3. Congratulations on 5 years! I remember it well because it was only about a month after I joined too 😊 I love your photo posts of NZ – landscapes and a few words that sum up the feeling you had there. Happy travels for 2019! X
