With a big bus we headed out on a tour to Farewell Spit, Golden Bay. It’s a protected area and public access is limited to only one or two tour companies. It was a beautiful day with amazing weather and beautiful sights. When I saw this dead tree on the beach, I knew that I wanted to take a photo of it. Forces of nature are so intense in that part of the country that it uprooted this tree, and blew it across and onto the beach. I wonder how long it will stay in the same place and how far it has travelled since the winds first picked it up. It took me a while to find an angle and a window of opportunity to take the shot without anyone else on it. But in the end, I really like this shot!
