Which Way photo challenge – November 19

Another week, another Which Way photo challenge! All are welcome and if you want to join in, here’s the badge.

The Which Way photo challenge is all about capturing the roads, walks, trails, rails, steps, signs, etc. we move from one place to another on.  You can walk on them, climb them, drive them, ride on them, as long as the specific way is visible.  Any angle of a bridge is acceptable as are any signs. There’s no topic to this challenge.  All you need have is the “way” visible and the main focus of your photo.  To enter, simply add a link in your post to this post and leave a comment down below.

Here is a list of acceptable “ways”:

  • Roads:  gravel, asphalt, cobbled, dirt, freeway, expressway, highway, bridges
  • Indoor walkways:  hallways, aisles, people movers
  • Outdoor walks:  sidewalks, paths, trails
  • Stairs, elevators, escalators, or steps
  • Railway tracks, monorails, ski lifts
  • Runways and tarmacs
  • Ferries, canals and locks
  • Parking lots, private driveways
  • Tunnels
  • Signs of any kind:  directional, informational, store signs, wind vanes
  • Maps that are posted as sign

        1. That is so cool! If you have any recommendations, I’m keen to learn. Already planning to eat a Karelian pastry and get my hands on yummy Salmiakki chocolate! I’m excited to explore a new city, though I’m primarily going for Tarja Turunen’s Christmas concert. The one in the Netherlands have been postponed, but I just really want to see her live (would be first time for me). Thank you, I’m sure I’ll enjoy it. Will be nice to get out of the country 😀

          1. Funny – When we visited Buenos Aires, I heard Tarja Turunen lived there! So now she’s back, apparently!

            A Karelian pie sounds good and it sounds like you’ve already tried salmiakki before? Finnish cinnamon buns are good (korvapuusti) and the local chocolate brand Fazer has very tasty milk chocolate bars available everywhere. 👍

            But be prepared: this is the darkest time of the year here. It’s so dark!! and drizzling and windy… 🙄

            1. I don’t follow Marion, but I’ll be sure to check out he blog. Yes, Tarja lived in Buenos Aires for many years, but since then moved to Spain, where she lives now. Not moving back to Finland was a conscious decision, but she does come back for projects, like the Voice of Finland and Seagul’s Nest, and conserts of course. 🙂

              Haha, yes, I’ve had salmiakki before. We have salmiak licorice in the Netherlands too, so I know the taste. The chocolate Salmiakki bar was indeed by Fazer, and I’ll be sure to dig in local food stuffs, haha!

              It’s the darkest time here too, but that doesn’t deter me from visiting Helsinki, haha. It’s an experience for sure! When I went to Svalbard in 2020, the sun was down all day and wouldn’t come up until a week or two later. It was like dusk for about an hour with the rest being dark, Weird sensation, but special too!

              1. What kind of project is Seagull’s neat? You are obviously a fan of hers 😁 I’m not into her music but as a person she is interesting and seems sympathetic.

                Well, it isn’t quite as bad as Svalbard (perhaps in Lapland it is). Helsinki has daylight from around 8:30 to 16:30 right now. Which also happens to be my work hours!

                1. Oh, I made a typo. Seagull’s Nest. Basically a group of Finnish musicians turning well known songs into blue grass versions. Tarja was on their show and it was so good and funny too. https://youtu.be/__q3_u4R0WQ. Music is so personal, that’s the beauty of it. Yes, haha, I love her music so so much, both the rock and the classical. She indeed seems sympathetic 😉

                  Haha, well, I’m going to find out what Finnish Lapland is like early next year 😉 But those daylight hours are very similar to here, though we are s bit further south.
