Kia ora, I’m San!
I think the travel bug was passed down to me from my grandad, so perhaps you could say my urge for travelling is in my DNA. To see the world, I’m not joining the navy, like my grandad did. Instead, I work hard in my awesome, full-time job, and save up for adventures in the mean time. My blog is a way to feed this insatiable travel bug, whilst being in between travels. I gravitate towards Scandinavian countries and countries like New Zealand and Canada. I love nature, photography, and being outdoors, so that’s what I blog about. If this is up your alley, come and say hi, and follow me on my journey!

Hi San, nice to meet you. I’ve loved reading your posts about Australia, being an Aussie, though I’ve lived in Canada for many years. I also love NZ – We’re going there early next year.
Thanks so much for following our blog. I hope you enjoy the stories of our journey, both inner and outer.
Cheers, Alison
PS Those bad things you say about staying in hostels (meaning shared rooms) – that’s why we don’t do it π But then we miss out on the good things π¦

Hi Alison. Thanks for leaving a message! So glad you liked my posts about Australia. So much to explore in not only Australia, but also New Zealand and Canada! π
I’m sure I’ll enjoy your stories!
Most hostels are actually okay. Especially in NZ, the standard of hostels is very high. The bad things all happened in big, impersonal backpacker factories in big cities like Sydney and Melbourne. The smaller places have pretty much all been lovely, so that’s where I prefer to stay at! π I suppose I’m spoilt now π

I hope you will get the chance to visit Iceland. But be careful, once you visit this wonderful country you will want to go back again and again, to explore more. It’s such a beautiful land, very different from other. So peaceful (so far), you can experience the raw nature and it’s very soothing. Unfortunately, more and more tourists are going there and I hope they will manage them in order to avoid some ecological disasters… the vegetation is very sensitive over there, and I’m not sure it’s made for mass tourism.

Me too! I just have to go there at some point in my life, and sooner rather than later. π I hope the masses stay away too. I would love to see things peaceful and in its grandeur.

The tourism in Iceland is growing exponentially. I was talking to some locals last summer, and they say that the numbers of tourist last year was more than twice the size of the population. and the government doesnβt do anything about it. Some sites are not meant to welcomes that many people. .

Wow, that is insane! Hope the country doesn’t get overrun so that there’s still immense beauty to explore in a responsible way.

I see you have been to Geiranger! Are you from Norway? I am in Australia, but have travelled to Norway many times. Just love that country.

Geiranger is pretty stunning, eh?! Iβm Dutch, but absolutely love Scandinavia! This was my first time in Norway but already know I want to come back!

Geiranger and the fjords of the West Coast of Norway are nothing short of mind blowing. I have been often asked to visit some friends of mine in the US but when I choose my holiday destination, how can anyone ever go past Norway? It is so unique. Did you travel independently? Did you visit Trondheim ? It is another of my favourite cities.

It certainly is mindblowing! Iβm sure the US have amazing areas as well. Iβd love to visit Oregon and Washington State, for example.
I spent a few days in Oslo by myself, then spent over a week with my Norwegian friend who lives on the west coast, and then indeed I spent a few days solo in Trondheim.

Hi San, Thanks for hosting the Which Way Challenge. I have always loved that challenge since Cee started doing it. It disappeared for a while, and I’m so glad it’s back. I’d love to do an interview with you on Always Write for my Challenge Host Series, if you are ever interested I have a page of all the interviews I’ve done you can check out. I also wanted to let you know that when I click on your link that comes up when you comment on my post, it is no longer active. This is the link that comes up. travelsan.wordpress.com

You’re welcome! I agree it’s a great challenge that Cee’s started. I’m now the third host, so it’s been around for a while! It would be fun to join for one of those interviews. How does that work? Feel free to send me a message through my contact form to talk about it further π
You know, it’s so strange. I’ve had another person tell me that. It’s the original wordpress link that I haven’t used in over 8 years! I checked e.g. my gravatar, but can’t find any hic ups. Maybe I need to dive in further π

It may need an outside expert. I had trouble with Google and WP talking to each other for over a year. WP blamed Google. I did everyting possible to fix Google that I knew – clean cookies, etc. When I had Geek Squad take a look at it, they fixed it so I can like and comment again on Google. YAY!
