Geiranger to Hellesylt

After a wonderful time in Geiranger, it was time to pack our things and go on with our road trip. We decided to take the ferry to Hellesylt, as it was on the way to our next destination of Ålesund. The ferry took about an hour, but I wouldn’t have minded if it had taken more than that! The scenery was absolutely stunning! Steep rock faces in the impressive Geiranger Fjord and we were but a tiny speck in this grand spectacle called nature.

  1. Stunning. You’re giving me the “travel bug.” This may be dumb, but I have to ask. When I hear/read the word Fjord I think of the move Frozen. Is there only one Fjord or is this the real one that they talk about in the movie.

    1. Hehe, it’s contageous, isn’t it? There are heaps of fjords. A fjord is a natural phenomenon where an inlet with steep walls is created by the workings of a glacier. Pretty much the whole coast of Norway consists of fjords. Fjords are not limited to Norway, though. For example, there are fjords in Iceland and New Zealand too. They’re beautiful, aren’t they?
