Last Saturday, we went to Assen to go to the Maya Exhibit at the Drents Museum. This is one of my absolute favourite musea in the country, due to its amazing archaeology collection including the Pesse canoe (oldest boat in the world) and the Yde Girl (Iron Age bog body of a 16-year-old girl). I highly recommend a visit to this beautiful museum! Besides, Assen is a cute small city with plenty of places to eat, visit and enjoy.
To get to Assen, the quickest way was to go by way of the Afsluitdijk. The Afsluitdijk is a closure dike used close off the Zuiderzee, turning it into the IJsselmeer. The weather was beautiful and driving conditions were superb! About halfway through, we took a small break and enjoyed the view. I especially loved the bright blue sky and the thick, fluffy clouds which made for some really nice contrasts. Here are some of the photos I took.
Lovely cloud-scapes San.
