Te Rerenga Wairua

Cape Reinga is the place where the Tasman Sea and the Pacific Ocean meet. It’s a spiritual place for Maori, because it is here that the spirits of the dead enter the underworld and make the journey back to the homeland of Hawaiki. I thought it was a beautiful place, a place with a lot of meaning and reverence. It was also pretty cool that you could really see where the two waters meet because the colours are slightly different. I wouldn’t mind going back here sometime!

  1. It looks like great scenery too. Isn’t it interesting seeing where oceans meet. We have seen where the Southern Ocean meets the Indian Ocean and where the North Sea meets the Atlantic Ocean. In both places it’s easy to make out because of the line of breakers in the water. The Earth is fascinating.

    1. Yes I agree, the Earth is fascinating! It was beautiful scenery indeed so I can picture how the other waters must have looked. 😉 I saw in a documentary that somewhere in the Amazon, two waters meet, one river being quite clear and the other very muddy. The waters don’t mix so you see this sharp line between the two. It looks odd but cool too.
